Ingram teenager dies after riding accident
Around 5:43 p.m. Saturday, Cassie Hough was riding a horse at her aunt and uncle’s residence east of Fredericksburg when she either fell or was thrown from the horse, according to Gillespie County Sheriff Milton Jung. “From what we can determine, the horse probably stepped on her after she fell,” Jung said. “The injury was very serious,” he added. “She basically had a lot of head trauma.” There was a pole near where Hough fell, but Jung said it was unclear whether the pole contributed to her injuries. Hough was transported by Critical Air to University Hospital in San Antonio, where she died at 12:56 a.m. Sunday. Jung said an autopsy would be performed in Bexar County to determine Hough’s cause of death. A memorial service is planned this morning from 9:15 to 10 in the gym at Ingram Tom Moore High School. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, with burial services following at Garden of Memories. A reception will take place at Ingram Park following Thursday’s services. Glenda Taylor may be reached at glenda.taylor@dailytimes.com.
