The Times conducted an informal survey of its readers and asked two questions: 1. Does Kinky Friedman have a shot at becoming governor and 2. Who are they planning to vote for in the gubernatorial race this Nov. 7. Following are the results of those calls:

• Sure: 62 callers and 24 e-mails said Yes and they would vote for Kinky Friedman (I).

• No way: 15 callers and 1 e-mail response said Kinky wouldn’t get their vote and shouldn’t be governor.

• Perry supporters: 5 callers weighed in for Rick Perry (R).

• Keeton Strayhorn supporters: 3 callers would vote for Carole Keeton Strayhorn (I).

• Bell supporters: 2 calls and 1 e-mail said they planned to vote for Chris Bell (D).

• Undecided: 2 respondents said Kinky has a chance, but they hadn’t decided who to vote for.

• In addition: Because we could not verify accurate totals, this count does not include the caller who said those attending a family reunion wanted to register 55 votes for Kinky.
